There is a preliminary power line route option for the Midcontinent Grid Solutions (MGS) BECI 765-kV Transmission line project that is near to the Village area.
They are asking the public for feedback on the study segments be submitted by September 7, 2026. It is an interactive map that you can add comments to or stop by one of their Open House events. For North Freedom area residents, the Sauk County Open House will be on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Lange Center at UW-Platteville Baraboo (1006 Connie Road, Baraboo, WI 53913).
According to their preliminary plan, other Open House events will be planned in Fall 2026 and application to the PSC in early 2027.
